Conscientiousness is one of the “Big Five” personality traits (along with Openness, Extraversion, Agreeableness, and Neuroticism). At its core, it describes a person’s ability to exercise self-discipline, impulse control, and goal-directed behavior.
Think of it as the brain’s executive management system. While other traits dictate what you desire or how you react emotionally, conscientiousness determines how effectively you organize, plan, and execute actions to achieve your goals.
